Excursions in the
Schladming-Dachstein region

• The Dachstein mountain, one of the most popular excursion destinations in Styria, is only a stone's throw from the Hotel Waldfrieden. Within a few minutes, you will be able to climb 1,000 metres in altitude with the new panorama gondola and hover close by steeply sloping rock walls. Once you have arrived, you will find numerous attractions such as the ice palace, skywalk or the stairs into nothingness.
• The Rohrmooser Untertal is home to the highest waterfall in Styria, the Riesach waterfall. After a walk of approx. 30 minutes, you reach the Alpinsteig, which extends through a gorge along the Riesachbach. The water thunders down from a height of 140 metres and, especially after the snow melts in spring, is a great natural spectacle. The "Wilde Wasser" experience is included in the Summer Card & ideal for a trip on hot days! We advise you to take the hiking bus to get there, as the car park has only limited capacity.
• Stift Admont
  The Benedictine Abbey of Admont is the oldest existing monastery in Styria and houses the world's largest monastery library. The huge library hall is flanked by a large museum with a natural history museum, an art history museum, a museum for contemporary art and the Gothic museum.
• Stadt Salzburg
  The nearby festival city of Salzburg is always worth a visit. Numerous museums, the beautiful old town, the Mirabell Gardens or the magnificent trick fountains at Hellbrunn Palace are just a few of the most important sights in the city.
